Born May 20, 1912 in Somerset Township, a daughter of John Hays and Annie Victoria (Walker) Walters. Preceded in death by parents and husband, Walter Bisel Gardner who died November 15, 1987; daughters; Katherine Gardner and Marlene Barron, and two sisters Gazella Gardner and Mary Baker and three brothers Palmer Walters, John C. Walters and Philip H. Walters. Survived by these children: Mrs. Daniel S. (L. Faye) Sarver of Somerset, J. C. Gardner married to the former Jeanette Collins of Orangeburg S.C.; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Martha Walters, Ruby Walters, Rena Walters-Valentine, and Ruth Baker, all of Somerset. Member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, Bakersville where she had sung in the choir and was Sunday School Superintendent; Bakersville Fire Co, Auxiliary; Seamstress for the former Bender Shoe Co. with 22 years of service retiring July 1, 1978. Friends received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home. Service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, Bakersville with the Rev. Elisa A. Osman officiating. Viewing at the church from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. the time of service. Interment, Bakersville Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Mt.
