Gardner, 57, Somerset RD 4, died Sept. 9, 1983, in Somerset Community Hospital. Born Aug. 11, 1926, in Lincoln Township, son of Mrs. Gertrude (Beck) Gardner of Sipesville and the late Lester H. Gardner. Preceded in death by two brothers, Ray and Ernest. Survived by wife, the former Blanche (Baker) Holladay; son, Ronald Gardner of Blairsville; and these step-children: Mrs. Donald (Virginia) Showalter, Coatesville, Pa.; Mrs. Fred (Carol) Walker, Somerset; Larry Holladay, Warren, Ohio; and 10 grandchildren. A brother of Mrs. Frank (Ethel) Stern of Hollsopple. Member of Bakersville Volunteer Fire Co. and Operating Engineers #66. Director of Laurel Ridge Sportsmen's Association. A veteran of World War II. Friends will be received from noon to 4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the Richard E. Hauger Funeral Home where service will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Gregory Pile officiating.
