  Evelyn P. Gardner, 81, of Berlin, died May 5, 1990, at Somerset
  Hospital.   Born Dec. 25, 1908, in Listonburg, daughter of Harry and Mary
  (Matthews) Smith.  Preceded in death by parents; husband, William;
  brothers, Carl and Robert.  Survived by these children: Mrs. Richard
  (Nancy) Hittie, Berlin; Donald, married to the former Jean Weimer,
  Monroeville, and James married to the former Naomi Turney of Florida; seven
  grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren.  Sister of Rev. Max E. Smith of
  Ligonier.  Member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Rockwood.  Family received
  friends Sunday evening and will receive friends 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
  Monday at the Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin, where service will be held at 11
  a.m. Tuesday, the Rev. Max E. Smith.  Interment, I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Rockwood.
