Gardner, 89, of Somerset, died Aug. 29, 1982, at Somerset Community Hospital. Born July 28, 1893, in Jefferson Township, a son of George and Clarissa (Horner) Gardner. Also preceded in death by his wife, the former Sara E. Butler, three brothers and five sisters. Survived by these children: Mrs. John (Jean) Malarik, Clearwater, Fla.; and Mrs. Donald (Dorothy) Blume, also of Clearwater; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, Somerset; and Henry M. Phillips Lodge No. 337 F & AM, Monongahela; Monongahela Royal Arch Chapter No. 249; Pittsburgh Consistory; Syria Temple, Pittsburgh; and Somerset Lions Club. Friends are being received 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at the Richard E. Hauger Funeral Home where funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, the Rev. Wayne H. Beam.
