Gardner Sr., 90, Shaffer St., Somerset, died Aug. 4, 1986, in Somerset Community Hospital. Born Aug. 19, 1895, in Wheeling, W. Va., son of the late Harry and Carrie (Shaffer) Gardner. Preceeded in death by his parents; his wife, Twila (Zeigler) who died Jan. 7, 1979.; three sons, Willard, Wilfred and Ivan O. Jr.; a brother, Lionel; and a sister, Ouida. Survived by his daughter, Betty, wife of Fredrick Brass, Ambridge, Pa.; three grandchildren, Richard Brass, Ivan O. Gardner III and Bryn Capriola; and four great-grandchildren. He was a member of the First Christion (sic) Church in Somerset. A 51-year member of the Somerset Lions Club and a member of SAR Somerset Chapter, where he served as historian. He was a retired Baltimore and Ohio machinist. Member of the Hazel Glen Lodge #491 International Association of Machinists and Aerospace workers. Friends will be received Tuesday 7-9 p.m. at Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home where service will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Gene Sellers. Interment, Husband Cemetery.
