  Mrs. Maude E. Gardner, 90, of Stoystown, died Nov. 16, 1978 at Siemon
  Nursing Home, Somerset.  Born Feb. 13, 1988 in Shanksville, daughter of
  Simon and Esther (Lewis) Shank.  Preceded in death by parents; husband,
  Joseph B.; daughter, Ruth, three brothers; and one sister.  Survived by the
  following children: J. Millard, Stoystown; Mrs. Charles (Esther) Wepsic,
  Reading; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Sister of Mrs.
  Hazel Shaffer, Siemon Nursing Home.  Member of Grace Lutheran Church,
  Stoystown.  Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday
  at the Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown.  Remains will be removed to Grace
  Lutheran Church to lie in state from 1 p.m. until services at 2 p.m.
  Saturday, with the Rev. Ronald Long officiating.  Interment, Odd Fellows
  Cemetery, Stoystown.
