JACOB H. GAREY

  Dr. Jacob H. Garey, born January 5, 1851, died in the Community Hospital, 
Somerset, Nov. 8, aged 93 years, 10 months and 3 days.  He was a son of the late 
Nelson and Harriet Zorn Garey, and was born in Berlin.  After graduating from 
the University of Pennsylvania in medicine, he went to Wilsey, Kansas, where he 
was a successful physician for about forty years.  He also was an extensive land 
owner in Kansas.  Due to advanced age he retired about 15 years ago and came to 
spend his last days in his boyhood home with his brother and sisters.  He was a 
gentleman of high ideals and a fine American citizen.  He is survived by his 
brother, Wesley Garey, and these sisters: Miss Kate Garey and Mrs. Emma Ritter, 
all of Berlin, and Mrs. Margaret Krissinger of Denver, Colo.
  Funeral services were held Friday, Nov. 10, at 2 p.m., in the Johnson Funeral 
Home, with Rev. Robert S. Nagle officiating.  Interment in the I.O.O.F. 
Cemetery.
