All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/somerset/ _________________________________________ Garlitz, Joseph Joseph Garlitz, aged 60 years, 6 months and 23 days, died at his residence near Salisbury at 5 o'clock Wednesday afternoon after an illness lasting all summer. It is supposed that cancer of the stomach caused his death. Deceased was a son of Christian Garlitz and was born in Garrett County, Md. He came to Somerset County in early manhood and for many years was a respectable citizen of West Salisbury until several years ago when he purchased a little farm a short distance from town where he resided at the time of his demise. He is survived by his wife, Ellen and the following children: Mrs. Fannie Baker, of Frostburg, Md.; Mrs. Gertrude Brant, of Butler, Pa. and Earle Garlitz, of Akron, Ohio. Funeral services were held at the Garlitz home on Friday afternoon at 2:30 conducted by Rev. Ira S. Monn, pastor of the bereaved widow. Interment was made in the I. O. O. F. Cemetery in Salisbury.
