Garlitz, 63, Salisbury, died Dec. 27, 1986, at Salisbury. Born April 14, 1923, in Somerset, son of the late William B. and Romaine (Dietz) Garlitz Sr. Survived by his wife, the former Miriam E. Hetrick; two sons: David E., and Sam S. Garlitz Jr., both of Salisbury; two daughters: Mrs. Mary R., wife of Richard Shunk; and Miss Ruth A. Garlitz, both of Salisbury; also two brothers: William B. Garlitz Jr., Colorado Springs, Colo.; and Daniel D., Tucson, Ariz.; two sisters: Mrs. Rachel Swartzwelder, and Mrs. Leora Ann Pletkovic, both of Tucson, Ariz.; also two grandsons: Mark and Michael Shunk, and a number of nieces and nephews. Retired employee of Penn Pocohontas Coal Company, member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Salisbury, veteran of World War II, member of the Salisbury American Legion, member United Mine Workers of America Local #1875, area antique enthusiast. Friends will be received Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Thomas Funeral home, Salisbury, where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m., with the Rev. David E. Fetter officiating.
