Garlitz, 78, of 2517 Lark Ave., Altoona died Friday, May 29, 1981, in Mercy Hospital, following an extended illness. He had retired from, the Johnson Memorial Co., Meyersdale, in June 1970. He was born Sept. 15, 1902, in Somerset County, the son of Francis and Cora (Murray) Garlitz, and Sept. 25, 1923, in Meyersdale married Grace V. James. He is survived by his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Jean Drugg, of Altoona; two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a brother and two sisters, Ernest of Salisbury and Stella and Mrs. Grace Bittner, of Meyersdale. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, where he taught a Young Men's Bible class for many years and served on the church council for 18 years. He was also a member of the Men's Bible Class. Friends were received at the E. Merrill Smith Funeral Home, Broad Ave., Altoona, where funeral services were held with Pastor Barbara J. Winey officiating.
