WINFIELD SCOTT GARLITZ

  Funeral services for Winfield Scott Garlitz, 72, retired farmer, who died at 
his home three miles east of Grantsville on Wednesday, June 4, were held at his 
late home, Friday afternoon.  Rev. D. J. Combs, pastor of the Grantsville 
Methodist Church, officiated.  Burial was made in the Blocher cemetery, near Mt. 
Zion.
  He was born January 25, 1875, near Frostburg, a son of the late George and 
Nancy (Durst) Garlitz of Avilton.
  On June 6, 1900, he married Miss Rose Fazenbaker, who survives with five 
children - Mrs. Eugene Decker, and Mrs. George Nicklow, Garrett, Pa., and 
Phyllis, James and Richard Garlitz at home; also eight grandchildren.  Another 
son, George, and daughter, Mary, preceded him in death.
  Also surviving are four brothers, John, William, Norman and Olin Garlitz, and 
two sisters, Mrs. Scott Layman and Mrs. Edward Fazenbaker, all of Frostburg.
