Gary, 62, of Somerset RD 7, formerly of Kingwood, died Aug. 1, 1988 at Conemaugh Valley Memorial hospital, Johnstown. Born May 13, 1926 Rockwood RD 3, son of James and the late Anna (Pletcher) Gary. Preceded in death by mother; stepmother, Sally (Thorn) Gary; brother, Clark; and daughter, Mrs. Larry (Judy) Barclay. Survived by his wife of 39 years, the former Vernadine Ansell; daughters: Mrs. Harry (Joyce) Ankeny of Johnstown; and Bonnie Baker of Boswell; sisters: Alma Flemming of Wheeling, W.Va.; and Grace Ansell of Rockwood RD 3; brothers: Ray of Rockwood RD 3; and Roy of Rockwood; also, seven grandchildren. Member of the Somerset Christian Missionary Alliance Church and Kingwood I.O.O.F. He was a retired carpenter from Local No. 2274. A veteran of World War II where he participated in the Normandy Invasion. Friends will be received Tuesday 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., at the Wilbur D. Miller Funeral Home where funeral service will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Melvin Vance officiating. Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park.
