He was born Jan. 18, 1915, in Upper Turkeyfoot Township, Somerset County, a son of the late Michael and Mary (Faidley) Gary. He is also preceded in death by three sisters: Elva Weller; Joanna Pletcher; and Lydia Wiltrout and a brother, Jonas Gary. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sarah E. (Pritts) Gary, a sister, Rachel Montgomery and her husband Donald of Rockwood; three brothers: James Gary and his wife Meriam of Somerset; Peter Gary and his wife Blanche of Fla.; and Samuel Gary of Somerset. William was a long-time resident of Normalville and prior to his retirement he was a construction worker through Union Local 2274 in Pittsburgh. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific and he was a retired member of the Donegal VFW 6743. William was a member of the Critchfield Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Mill Run. Family and friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the Clyde Brooks Funeral Home Inc., Route 711, Melcroft, where a funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, with Rev.
