  GATES
  
  Mayme Johnson Gates died in Wash., D.C., Oct. 2, 1977.  Born in Somerset,
  the daughter of the late George and Hattie Johnson.  Preceded in death by
  husband, Guy, and son, Billy.  Survived by a daughter, Elaine Magruder; 2
  granddaughters, Mrs. Patricia (Gates) Mason and Michelle Gates.  She opened
  the first beauty parlor in Somerset, located on W. Main St.
