RAYMOND M. GATES

  Raymond M. Gates, aged 48, died in the Somerset Community Hospital Monday 
afternoon at 12:40, where he had been a patient since Jan. 16, 1940.  He was a 
World War veteran and served overseas with the 8th Division.  Mr. Gates was a 
son of the late Martin and Mrs. Margaret (Dadson) Gates.
  Surviving are his mother of Hopewell, his wife, Rhea (Berkey) Gates, and two 
children, Jasqueline of Garrett and Raymond Jr., at home.  Four brothers, Clyde, 
of Connellsville, Lyle, of Meyersdale, and Dale and Peter, of Hopewell, also 
survive.
  Military services were conducted Thursday afternoon at 2:30 in the Hauger 
Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dr. I. Hess Wagner officiating.  Burial followed in 
the Union Cemetery, Somerset.
