Gaudlip Sr., 89, 273 Fifth St., Jerome, died April 20, 1990, at home. Born Oct. 18, 1900, in Austria-Hungary. Son of Andrew and Veronica Gaudlip. Preceded in death by parents; first wife, former Alberta Cadwallader; daughter, Patricia; two infant sisters; sisters, Mary and Nellie; and brother, John. Survived by wife, former Catherine Cadwallader, and these children: Joseph Jr., Johnstown; Alberta, wife of Ted Smith, Portage; David, married to former Ella Mae Eckenrode, Jerome; John "Jack", married to former Verna Chasar, Hooversville; Kathleen, wife of Al Berkey, Jerome; Barbara, wife of Eugene Szymanski, Springfield, Va.; and James, married to former Mary Ann Poznanski, Avon Park, Fla.; 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Brother of Andrew, Frank and Agnes Harilla, all of Portage. Member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, Jerome, Washington, D.C. Council 3877, Knights of Columbus, and Tire Hill Local 998, UMWA. Observed 61st Wedding Anniversary Feb. 11, 1990. Coal miner for over 46 years. Employed for many years by former Hillman Coal and Coke Co., Jerome. Friends received from noon to 4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Hoffman Funeral Home, Main Street, Boswell. Memorials to a favorite charity would be appreciated. Funeral arrangements in Monday's paper.
