Born Feb. 26, 1929, in Acosta, daughter of Gerald and Maude (Reese) McGee. Preceded in death by parents and son, Jerry M. Survived by husband of 53 years, Stephen W. Gavel; sons, Joseph D., married to the former Denise Sellers, Acosta; Jeffrey S., married to the former Cindy Cook, Brotherton; granddaughters Joni and Emily Gavel; step grandson, Josiah Cook; brother Robert R. married to the former Lois Lough, Johnstown; brother-in-law, Frank (Pat) Gavel married to the former Mary Tulenko, Acosta; several nieces and nephews. A 1947 graduate of Somerset High School, 1950 graduate of Mt. Sinai School of Nursing, Philadelphia. Registered nurse for Somerset Hospital, Somerset State Hospital, Somerset Home Health and also a private duty nurse. Faithful servant to her family, community and her Lord. Member of St. John's United Methodist Church, Edie. She enjoyed cooking, baking and crocheting. A private family viewing and service will be held. Interment in Somerset County Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers donations in Emma Gean's name may be given to St. John's United Methodist Church, Box 165, Sipesville, Pa. 15561 or a charity of your choice.
