Gawlas, 64, 507 Eisenhower Blvd., died Dec. 21, 2006, at Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown. Born March 23, 1942, in Windber, daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Shaffern) Ulasky. Also preceded in death by first husband, Don Ripple and brother, Joseph Ulasky. Survived by husband, Richard; daughter, Amy, wife of David Ponchione, Armagh, son Greg, married to the former Cathy Verostick, Johnstown; and great-grandchildren, Emily Ponchione and Ethan Gawlas. Sister of Robert Ulasky, married to the former Joyce Shirt, and Richard Ulasky, married to the former Connie Shirt, both of Windber. Also survived by sister-in-law and best friend, Pat, wife of Fred Zeiler, Johnstown; former mother-in law, Ruth Ripple, Johnstown; mother-in-law, Mary Gawlas, Davidsville; brother-in-law, Eugene Gawlas, married to the former Bonnie Mauk, Johnstown; special aunt, Ann Martin, Windber; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was a former employee of MetLife and member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Benscreek. At Pat's request, the viewing and visitation are to be private, but family and friends are invited to attend funeral Mass at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Andrew's Church. The Rev. Sean Code, pastor.
