Gearhart, 71, of Acme RD 3, died Oct. 6, 2000 in the Hempfield Manor, Hempfield Township. She was born April 19, 1929 in Acme. A daughter of the late John Henry and Mary Belle Stillwagon Miller. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Gerald "Jake" Gearhart in 1993, and two brothers, Walter and Harry Miller. She is survived by two sons, Harold Gearhart and his wife Janet of Acme and Jerry Gearhart and his wife Diane of Acme; daughter Shelva Hauer and her husband Charles of Salisbury, six grandchildren, Troy Hauer and his wife Dorothy, John Hauer, Leona Hauer, Sarah Kerns, and her husband Jeremiah, Hannah Gearhart and Jerold Gearhart; two step-grandchildren, John Brant and Jason Brant and his wife Jill; one great-grandchild, Allison Hauer; three step-great-grandchildren, Nicholas Welch, Miles Brant and Sadie Brant, and two sisters, Myrtle Keslar of Mount Pleasant and Shirley Fisher and her husband Louis of Rockwood. Mrs. Gearhart was a retired custodian for the Connellsville Area School District working at the Pritts and Springfield Township Elementary Schools. She was a charter member of the Saltlick Township Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, member of the Chestnut Ridge Lionness Club, the Order of Eastern Star, Scottdale, the Order of the Amaranth of Mount Pleasant and Mountain Watershed Association. Also a member of the Mt. Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Donegal, where she was a member of the L.C.W. and was in charge of the church kitchen for many years. Friends received from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from noon to 9 p.m. Sunday in the Clyde Brooks Funeral Home Inc., Route 711 Melcroft. A prayer service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Monday in the funeral home followed by funeral service at 1 p.m. in the Mt. Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Donegal, with the Rev. Edward M. Miller Jr. and Rev. David E. Fetters co-officiating. Interment will follow in the Brown Cemetery, Saltlick Township. Somerset Daily American, October 7, 2000. [G0235]
