Born March 14, 1922, in Somerset, to the late Michael and Julia (Vitvia) Gelsie. A resident of Northeast since 1964, moving from Somerset. He was a member of the Northeast VFW 4789. He was formerly employed as a coal miner in Somerset for 21 years. From 1964 to 1971 he was employed at the Electric Materials Company in Northeast. He and his family also owned and operated the Harbor House in Harborcreek, Pa. for eight years. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Navy. He is survived by his wife Mary (Segedy) Gelsie, sons Michael Gelsie Jr., Philadelphia, James R. Gelsie, Northeast, and Steven Gelsie, Washington D.C., brother Jim Gelsie, Ripley, N.Y., sister Mrs. Betty Harrison, Lockport, N. Y., and two grandchildren. Preceded in death by daughter Mary Ellen Gelsie and brother Charles Gelsie. Funeral services were Jan. 10 in Northeast. Officiating was the Rev. Gerald Olshevski. Interment was at Northeast Cemetery.
