March 27, 1937 - June 1, 2003 John William George, Sr., 66, of 1789 Pigs Ear Rd., Grantsville, Md., died Sunday, June 1, 2003, at Beverly Healthcare, Meyersdale. Born March 27, 1937, in Cove, Md., he was a son of Twila (Bowser) George, Cumberland, Md., and the late Robert Merrill George. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Christopher Brown. Mr. George was a member of State Line United Methodist Church and was a retired press operator for Harbison-Walker Refractories. He served in the U.S. Army from 1956 - 1960. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Dorothy I. (Sanders) George; two sons: John George, Jr. and wife Missy and Robert George and wife Fran, all of Salisbury; three daughters: Twila Edgeson and husband Art, Martinsburg, W.Va.; Stacey Cruz and husband Tony, Stafford, Va.; Kelli Hoover and husband Shaun, Mayfield, Ky.; two stepsons: Gary Broadwater and Kevin Broadwater and wife Tricia, all of Grantsville; eight grandchildren: Bill, Wiltrout and wife Mandy; Jason Wiltrout and wife Erika; Adam Edgeson; Brandon Rocker; Daniel and Kelsey Cruz; Hannah and Logan Hoover; one great-grandson, Tristan Wiltrout; two brothers; Delmas George and wife Patty, Salisbury; Duane George and wife Susie, Watertown, Conn.; two sisters: Mary Albright and husband Freeman, Salisbury; Wanda Shumaker and husband Dale, Cumberland. Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., Grantsville, Md. on Wednesday. Services will be conducted in the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 5 (today), with Pastor Mary Radford and Pastor Scott Shumaker officiating. Interment will be in Addison Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bill Wiltrout, Jason Wiltrout, Adam Edgeson, Brandon Rocker, Gary McClintock and Bill Harris. Expressions of sympathy may be directed to State Line United Methodist Church.
