George Sr., 76, of Somerset, formerly of Greensburg, died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 1997 in Somerset Hospital. He was born March 17, 1921 in Greensburg, the son of the late John A. and Lucy Murray George. He retired from the Mutual Aid Ambulance Service with 25 years of service as operations director. He served in the Army Air Corps during WWII, was a member of the National American Legion Association, a life member of Greensburg Volunteer Fire Dept. Hose Co. 6 and a social member of the West Point Fire Dept. He had been a former member of the Church of The Brethren in southwest Greensburg. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Estelle Laughner; brother, John A. George Jr.; son, Richard T. George Jr. and grandson, Richard W. Grine. He is survived by his wife Dawna Myers George and the following children, Mrs. Richard (Rindy) Grine of Stoystown, Mrs. Stephen (Cindy) Yantus of Stoystown, John O. Myers III and wife Silvia of Germany, Daniel W. Myers and wife Wendy of Utah, Ronald R. George and his wife Anna Marie, Dennis M. George and wife Dana, Mrs. Gary (Betsy) Romagnoli, and Deborah J. George all of Greensburg and sisters, Marie Welker of Greensburg, Betty G. Appleby of RD 2 Jeannette, Gail O'Brien of Ebensburg, Marjorie George and Margaret George both of Greensburg, 17 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Family and friends will be received at the Kepple-Graft Funeral Home, 524 N. Main St., Greensburg from 7-9 p.m. Saturday and from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday. Services will be held in the funeral home at 11 a.m., Monday, with Rev. Jason McQueen officiating. Interment will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park. Daily American, December 6, 1997 [G0316]
