He was born Dec. 9, 1922, in Johnstown, a son of the late Thomas A. and Sarah Alice (Bechtel) Gerber. He is survived by his wife, the former Jean Wentz, and these children: Thomas D., of Huntingdon; Mary Alice of Philadelphia; and Robert, at home. Also four grandchildren, Kerri, Jason, Justin and Lindsay, all of Huntingdon. He was a brother of Mrs. Jane Moorehead of Johnstown RD. He was a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania and received his master's at Penn State University. He was a science teacher in Berlin-Brothersvalley High School for the past 35 years. He was a life member of the NEA and former member of PSEA. He was an active member of the Boy Scouts of America for over 20 years and a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Berlin. Friends were received at the Johnson-Kuhlman Funeral Home, Berlin, where services were held with the Rev. Kenneth S. Swanson officiating. Interment, Berlin I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Contributions in his memory to the American Cancer Society, Somerset County Unit, Scull Building, Somerset, Pa. 15501, or Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Berlin, would be appreciated.
