Gerhardt, 80, of Goodlettsville, Tenn., formerly of Somerset, died June 4, 2001 at his daughter and son-in-law's home in Goodlettsville, Tenn. Born Aug. 16, 1920 in Meyersdale, son of Freeman and Clara (Shafer) Gerhardt. Preceded in death by parents, his wife of 46 years, the former Mabel A. Moore, brothers and sisters, George Gerhardt Sr., Ruth Madden, Rose Secrist, James Gerhardt and Ross Gerhardt. Survived by daughter, Trishana A. Barnett of Boston, Mass., and daughter and son-in-law Beverly and Jack Spangler; grandchildren, Todd A. Spangler and Stefanie and Clark Comperry, and 2 great-grandchildren Jonathan and Jessica Comperry; also numerous nieces and nephews. Brother of Clark, Scott, and Eugene Gerhardt. Veteran of World War II. Past member of Somerset Church of the Brethren and was attending Whitworth Memorial Baptist Church. A celebration of his life was held at the home of the Spanglers on June 5. A private graveside service will follow. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established at Whitworth Memorial Baptist Church, 3014 Elm Hill Pike, Nashville, Tenn., 37214.
