Gessner, 72, died suddenly at his home in Berlin of a heart attack, on Monday, July 17. He attended church services Sunday and seemingly was in good health. Mr. Gessner was born in Berlin. He married Miss Anna Landis and they moved to Waterloo, Iowa, 34 years ago. Within the last year he retired from his life's work as plasterer and came to spend the remainder of his life in his old home town. He was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America. He is survived by his wife and a sister, Mrs. Irma Stoner, of Scottdale. Funeral services were held Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Johnson Funeral Home, Rev. Whetstone officiating. Interment in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Meyersdale Republican, July 20, 1944
