She began her career as woman's editor of the Cumberland (Md.) Daily News and worked there from 1924 to 1942. Since then she spent 30 years as a feature writer, reporter and columnist for the Somerset Daily American. She was also the author of four books of poetry. A member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Somerset; she was also a member of the National League of American Pen Women, Somerset Business and Professional Women's Club, the Garden Club, Somerset Welfare League, the Crippled Children's Society and was a past member of the board of directors of the Somerset County Cancer Society. Born in Wellersburg, she was a daughter of the late Joachim C. and Ellen Jane (Martin) Marten. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles B. Getty, formerly of Grantsville; infant twin sons, a grandson and two sisters. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. E. H. Reppert, Bridgeport, W. Va.; Mrs. E. E. Criswell, Clarksburg, W. Va.; five grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Flora Winebrenner, Mt. Savage, Md. Funeral service was conducted Monday morning in Richard E. Hauger Funeral Home, Somerset, with Rev.
