Gibson, 67, of Stoystown RD 3, died Oct. 23, 1980, in Somerset Community Hospital. Born Nov. 22, 1912, in Listie, son of Robert H. and Mary J. (Durst) Gibson. Preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Morton H. Beam; and infant brother. Survived by his widow, the former Evelyn Spangler, whom he married April 8, 1934; and these children: Mrs. Glenn (Shirley) Walker, Mechanicsburg; Mrs. Samuel (Jean) Fox, Stoystown RD 3; Robert H., married to the former Shirley Brown, Somerset RD 1; and Richard B., married to the former Barbara Pfeffer, Hagerstown, Md.; 12 grandchildren; 2 great-granddaughters; stepsister, Mrs. Guy (Bessie) Reed, of Lake Panasoffkee, Fla.; and uncle, Arthur J. Durst, Somerset. Retired supervisor with the U.S. Steel Corporation with 33 years service. Presently employed as consultant with Solar Fuel Company, Friedens RD 1. Member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Shanksville, where he served on the church council and was a Sunday school teacher for 45 years. Member and past president of the Stoystown Lions Club; member of the Shanksville Silver and Gold Senior Citizens; former member of Shanksville-Stonycreek School Board and of the Supervisors Club of the U.S. Steel Corporation. Family received friends Friday evening and will received [sic] friends from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Saturday at the Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown. Remains will be removed to St. Mark Lutheran Church, Shanksville, to lie in state from 1 p.m. until services at 2 p.m. Sunday, with the Rev. Dale F. Biesecker officiating. Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park. If friends desire, contributions may be made to either American Cancer Society or St. Mark Lutheran Church, Shanksville.
