Born Jan. 7, 1929, in Greensburg, the daughter of Charles and Edith (Deemer) Silvis. Preceded in death by parents; sister, Mary Jane Henry; brother, Charles H. "Bud" Silvis; nephew, David James Henry; and daughter-in-law, Holly L. Gibson. Survived by husband of 52 years, Robert J. Sr.; son, James, married to Linda Mehall, Norristown; daughter, Linda Gibson and Walter Stoppe, Boswell; son, Robert J. Jr., Pittsburgh; grandchildren, James and Kristen Gibson; Sean Gibson; Keri and Matthew Stoppe; Adam and Sarah Stoelker; and Zachary Gibson; sister, Evelyn, married to Glenn Fink, Jeannette; brothers, James Silvis, and wife Nancy, Texas, and David Silvis, and wife, Teresa, Greensburg; sisters-in-law, Lorena Silvis, Greensburg, and Clara Louise Hall, Florida; and brothers-in-law, Kenneth Henry, Ohio, and Richard P. Gibson, Ligonier. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. A 1947 graduate of the former Greensburg High School and attended the Greensburg Business School. Formerly employed by Silvis Farms, Bell Telephone and retired in 2001 from the North Star School District, with 28 years of service as a teacher's aide. Member of St. Andrew's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Boswell; Auxiliary to the Jerome American Legion; and the Polish Falcons of Jerome. Life member of the Ferndale Sportsmen Club. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Allegheny Street, Boswell, where a service will be held at noon on Friday. The Rev. David Saylor, family friend and pastor of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Evan City, officiating. Interment Beam Cemetery, near Gray.
