Gilpin, 70, of RD 2 Grantsville, Md.; died May 8, 1981 in Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, Md. Born in Fairview, Md., he was a son of the late Mary Bittinger. His wife, Clesta (Meyers) Gilpin, preceded him in death. He was a member of the Casselman Sportsmen's Club; a retired coal miner and a retired school bus driver in Garrett County. He is survived by eight sons, Julius, David, Roger and Kenneth Gilpin, all of Grantsville; Ray Gilpin, Canton, Ohio; Grady Gilpin, Akron; Clinton Gilpin, of Windham, Ohio and Richard Gilpin of Girard, Ohio; three daughters, Mrs. Wanita Wilt, of Grantsville; Mrs. Lois Sweitzer, Girard, Ohio; Mrs. Maxine O'Brian, Swanton, Md., four half-brothers, Clark Bittinger, Oakland, Md.; Marshall Bittinger, McHenry Md.; McKinley Bittinger, Crellin and Vernon Bittinger of West Virginia; two half-sisters, Mrs. Beulah Cutter, Klondike; Mrs. Olive Glotfelty, McHenry; 24 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Friends were received in the Newman Funeral Home Grantsville where services were conducted by the Rev. Roger Bucy. Interment will be in Trinity United Church of Christ Cemetery, New Germany.
