  Geraldine (Shaffer) Gioia, 68, of Wilmington, N.C. formerly of Somerset
  passed away Nov. 10, 2003 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.  She was
  born in Somerset, March 27, 1935 the daughter of Mrs. Elma (Day) Miller of
  Somerset and the late Garwood Shaffer.  Surviving in addition to her mother
  are her loving husband, Alfonse Gioia of the home; two daughters, Amy Louise
  Saydoff and husband Joel of Frederick, Md. and Kathleen Anne Gioia of
  Houston, Texas; one grand-child, Ryan Andrew Saydoff.  Mrs. Gioia was a
  graduate of Somerset High School and the Windber Hospital School of
  Nursing.  A memorial service will be held at a later date.  Memorials may
  be made to the American Cancer Society, 3131 Wrightsville Avenue,
  Wilmington, N.C. 28403.  Arrangements by Coble Ward-Smith Funeral and
  Cremation Services Oleander Chapel.

  Mrs. Gioia passed away on Monday, Nov. 10 at New Hanover Regional Medical
