Frank S. Glessner, 83, Sarasota, Fla., formerly of Berlin, died Jan. 5, 2006, in Sarasota. Born June 24, 1922, in Berlin, son of Ross C. and Anna C. (Belcher) Glessner. Preceded in death by p a r e n t s ; wife, the former Erma Paulson (former owner of the Ship Hotel, Schellsburg); brother, Robert Glessner; and sister, Shirley Miller. Survived by a niece, Karen Gorsuch, Sarasota; and nephews: Gary Glessner, and Rickey Miller, both of Somerset. World War II Navy fighter pilot for seven years where he was a Lieutenant Commander. He received the Flying Cross, Gold Star, Purple Heart, Presidential Unit Citation, and Pacific Citation with three Battle Stars. He was a Pan American Airlines captain for 36 years. He was a life member of the DAV, Somerset VFW and American Legion. Member of Meyersdale BPOE Lodge, Somerset FOE Aerie 1801, and New Baltimore Sportsmen's Club. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin, where a service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday. The Rev. Dr. John W. Harmon officiating.
