Glessner, retired stonemason of Trans-Meyersdale, expired at 6 a.m., April 23, at his home, after a lingering illness. He was born in Somerset County, November 4, 1858, the son of Lewis and Elizabeth (Wesley) Glessner. He was twice wed; his first wife, Ellen M. (Schrock) Glessner, passed away many years ago. Two daughters also preceded him in death. Mr. Glessner organized Meyersdale's first band and was the first band leader here. Survivors are his second wife, Mrs. Susan (Lenhart) Glessner, and seven daughters - Mrs. Hulda Temme, Meyersdale; Mrs. William Bottorf, St. Petersburg, Fla.; Mrs. J. M. Jones, Pittsburgh; Mrs. D. L. Braun, Wilkinsburg; Mrs. U. Harper, Daytona Beach, Fla.; Mrs. J. M. Michell, Monmouth, Ill., and Mrs. Polly Leabo, Kansas City; one brother, Gilbert D. Glessner, Daytona Beach, Fla., and nine grandchildren. Friends were received at the Price Funeral Chapel until 2 p.m., Monday, when Rev. S. Loren Bowman, pastor of the Meyersdale Church of the Brethren, conducted a funeral service, after which interment was made in Union Cemetery. Meyersdale Republican, April 29, 1948
