Glessner, 96, Richland Township, died Feb. 23, 2008, at the Scalp Level Church of the Brethren Home. She was born Nov. 30, 1911, in Richland Township, daughter of Stephen and Emma Jane (Hoffman) Weaver. Zella is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Farest; foster son, William Barnes; sister, Mable Weaver; and brothers, Ortha, Warren, Alvin, Emerson, Maurice, and Herman "Dutch." Zella was the last surviving member of her family. Survived by brother and sister-in-law, William and Cheri Glessner; sister-in-law, Ada Glessner, widow of Jay Glessner. She is also survived by Rose Barnes, widow of William and her children, Melinda Himes, Billie Jo, and Jennifer Barnes; numerous nieces and nephews; and resided with her niece Joan Jessel. She was a life-long member of Scalp Level Church of the Brethren. Zella was a graduate of Richland High School class of 1929, and later moved to Shanksville, where she and her husband operated a dairy farm until retirement at which time they returned to Richland Township. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland. An additional viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Scalp Level Church of the Brethren, 270 Hoffman Ave., Windber. The Rev. Ronald St. Clair, pastor. Interment will be held at Richland Cemetery.
