All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/somerset/ ________________________________________________ JONAS GLOTFELTY ADDISON, Nov. 16 - Jonas Glotfelty died at the home of his son, Brison Glotfelty, Somerfield, Friday, Nov. 6, about 9 p.m. at the age of 98 years and 11 days. He was born Oct. 25, 1844, the youngest son of William and Esther Glotfelty, in Somerset County. The family moving to Garrett County, Maryland, when he was a boy, he spent all the active years of his life there, engaged in farming. After retiring from farming he came to Addison to live with his son. He enjoyed good health all his life. He became ill about three weeks ago. He joined the Deep Creek United Brethren Church 50 years ago and was a faithful member until his death. March 29, 1866, he was united in marriage to Rebecca Specht and to this union eleven children were born, five of whom are deceased. His wife died in 1894, and later he married Deborah Thomas, who also preceded him in death in 1928. He is survived by six children of his first wife: Mrs. Alice Delawder, Mrs. Sadie Wilson, Mrs. Orpha Wilson, and Mrs. E. A. Weimer, all of Washington, D.C., Mrs. Nelson Brenneman, McHenry, and Brison Glotfelty, Somerfield. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 28 great- grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Funeral services were held on Sunday, Nov. 8, at 2:30 o'clock at the United Brethren Church at McHenry, Md., by Rev. J. E. Johnson, Oakland, assisted by Rev. J. C. Foster, Mt. Lake Park, Md. Interment was made in the Flatwoods Cemetery by the side of his first wife, under the direction of H. B. Rishebarger, mortician of Addison. Pallbearers were Earl Mason, Naylor Glotfelty, Fred Glotfelty, Webster Brenneman, and Hubert Bowman. Meyersdale Republican, November 19, 1942
