GNAGEY Funeral services for Gideon J. Gnagey, 87, a retired farmer and former resident of Grantsville, who died at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob R. Gnagey in Baltimore, on Saturday evening, May 3, were held in the Grantsville Reformed Church, Thursday morning, Rev. Ira S. Monn, pastor of the Salisbury Reformed Church, officiated. His texts, Matthew 20:11, "By their fruits ye shall know them," and Hebrews 11:4, "He being dead yet speaketh," were very fitting to the life of Mr. Gnagey. Members of the Church choir sang, "Sweet Hour of Prayer," "Come Ye Disconsolate," and "My Faith Looks Up to Thee." The pallbearers were Lester and John Warnick, Alvin J. Yoder of Cumberland, Harvey Gortney, Olen Yoder and Harry L. Yommer of Grantsville. Interment in the family lot in the Reformed Church Cemetery, New Germany. Mr. Gnagey was the son of the late Jacob and Sarah Gnagey. He was born March 16, 1860 on the farm near Grantsville, where he lived many years. He married Miss Mary A. Warnick, June 1, 1886. She passed away in November 1918. Of three children born to them two survive - Mrs. Edward Sausman, Warren, Ohio, and Jacob R. Gnagey, Baltimore. A daughter, (Sara) Mrs. Lloyd Kamp is deceased. Surviving are nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, one brother, Christian J.Gnagey, of Buffalo, N.Y., and one sister, Mrs. Albert Warnich, Grantsville. Mr. Gnagey was one of the oldest residents of Garrett County, and was a well known highly respected citizen. He was a member of the New Germany Reformed Church for many years and served as elder until he moved his membership to Grantsville. In politics he was a Republican and served as judge of the Election Board in Grantsville many years. He was very active in the party, although never aspiring to office. He lived in Grantsville at the National Hotel with his son, a number of years until his son's removal to Baltimore. He was in ill health for several years of a complication of ailments and was bedfast the last two weeks. Relatives who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Edward Sausman and daughter Eleen and son Edward, Jr., of Warren, Ohio; Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Gnagey, and sons, J.R. Jr., and Robert; daughters, Sally Ann of Baltimore and Miss Mary Helen Gnagey, R.N., of the Civilian Hospital, Bethesda, Md.; Mr. and Mrs. Warren Dill, Jerome, Pa.; Mrs. Elizabeth Warnich and sons, John and Lester of Cumberland; Mr. and Mrs. James Martin, C. J. Warnick, Mrs. William Miller, Miss Lucretia Warnick, Washington, D.C.; Mr. and Mrs. Dalton Warnick, Cleveland, O.; James Willison, Cumberland; Mr. and Mrs. James Emerick and Mrs. McCabe, Loganton, Pa.; John B.
