Gnagey Jr., 61, formerly of Grantsville, Md., died Thursday, January 16, 1986, at his home, 1000 Arion Park Road, Baltimore, Md. Born in Cumberland, Md., Sept. 8, 1924, he was a son of the late Jacob R. Gnagey Sr. and Beulah V. (Bender) Gnagey. He was a retired merchant seaman and had attended St. John's United Church of Christ, Grantsville. He served with the Marine Corps in World War II and was a member of Dewey Lorman Post 109, American Legion, Halethorpe, and the Loyal Order of Moose in Glen Burnie. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Dorothy (Shumaker) Gnagey; two daughters, Mrs. Beverly J. Harrison and Mrs. Linda Watts, both of Baltimore, Md.; one brother, Robert Gnagey, Baltimore, Md.; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Helen Hostetler, Meyersdale; Mrs. Sally Bruno, Glen Arm, and one grandson. Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville, Md., where services were conducted at the funeral home Sunday at 2 p.m. by the Rev. William L. Borch. Interment, Grantsville Cemetery.
