Gnagey, 42, wife of Edgar W. Gnagey, dairy farmer of near Meyersdale died Sunday morning, Feb. 23, 1941, about 9, at the home of her mother-in-law, Mrs. Anna Gnagey, of East Somerset. She had been ill for over a year, and was removed to Somerset from a Cumberland hospital four weeks ago. Mrs. Gnagey was born Dec. 13, 1898, the daughter of the late Daniel J. and Elizabeth (Maust) Meyers, of Meyersdale. She was a life long member and ardent worker in the Meyersdale Church of the Brethren, and a popular member in social and civic activities in Meyersdale. Surviving are her husband, Edgar W. Gnagey; one son, William D., at home and two brothers, John and Samuel Meyers, both of Meyersdale. Interment was in the Union Cemetery in Meyersdale, Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock, conducted by W. C. Price, mortician, of Meyersdale. The Rev. DeWitt L. Miller, pastor of the Meyersdale Church of the Brethren, officiated. The body was removed from the home of her brother, John Meyers, on Beachley Street, (orginally the home of their parents) to the Church of the Brethren at one o'clock, where it lay in state until the hour of the funeral. There were many beautiful floral tributes. Mrs. Gnagey enjoyed the love and esteem of a large circle of friends, for she was always kindly, good natured and interested in the affairs of the community. Meyersdale Republican, February 27, 1941
