Born July 23, 1917, at Boynton, she was the daughter of the late Stanford A. and Elizabeth (Holler) Hillegas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer C. Gnagey, June 10, 1981; Doris Will, sister; Gale L. "Mik" Hillegas, brother, and Betty Hillegas, sister. Surviving are a son, Preston Gnagey, Tucson, Ariz.; three daughters, Margie G. Goetz, Salisbury; Glenda Westcoat, Greensburg; Beth Cook, Salisbury; four grandchildren, Gretchen Gnagey Fitzpatrick, North Potomac, Md.; Natalie Statler, Dillsburg; Erin Gnagey Haegele, Potomac Falls, Va.; Todd Westcoat, Washington, Pa.; five great-grandchildren, Liam Preston Fitzpatrick; Charles Preston Haegele; Hannah Fitzpatrick; Carter Graham Haegele; Lauren Elise Westcoat. Mrs. Gnagey was a retired postal worker for the U.S. Postal Service. After her retirement, she sold Avon for 20 years. She was a member of the Salisbury Fireman's Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary and also was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ and the TTT Class. Mrs. Gnagey played the piano and loved music. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and was very faithful to her church. Friends will be received from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Newman Funeral Home Inc., 9168 Mason Dixon Highway, Salisbury. Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John's United Church of Christ with the Rev. Paul L. Westcoat and the Rev. Ruth S. Kershner officiating. Interment will be in Salisbury Cemetery.
