Golby, 90, of Acosta, formerly of Quecreek, died Oct. 11, 1984, in Somerset Community Hospital. Born Feb. 4, 1894, in Houtzdale, a son of the late Harry and Jane (Hill) Golby. Preceded in death by three wives: Emily Golby, Lydia (Rightnour) Golby and Elizabeth (Durst) Stern Golby; also two sons and two daughters. Survived by these children: James R., Johnstown RD 4; Warren E., married to the former Lydia Weyant, Berlin RD 4; William J., married to the former Mary Weyant, Chalfont, Pa.; Betty Golby, Quecreek; and Debbie Hause, Wilbur; eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Four sisters: Emily Tatty, of Cleveland, Ohio; Jane Golby, Elizabeth Boltz and Lois Gosnell, all of Johnstown. Member of the UMW of A; retired employee of Pittsburgh Consolidated Coal Co. and Saxman Coal and Coke Co. Veteran of World War I, served in the U.S. Navy. Member and past commander of Somerset Post 554 V.F.W. and a member of Somerset F.O.E. 1801. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today (Friday) in the Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home, where services will be conducted Saturday at 10:30 a.m., with the Rev. Herbert Lohr officiating. Interment, Casebeer Cemetery. Daily American, October 12, 1984 [G0755]
