Gomilar, 83, Carpenter Park Road, Conemaugh Township, died Feb. 13, 2007 at Sewickley Valley Hospital , Allegheny County. Born Feb. 21, 1923 in Stonycreek Township, Cambria County, son of John Sr. and Mary (Kosmatin) Gomilar. Preceded in death by parents; wife, of 40 years, the former Elsie M. Jones, died March 22, 1990; brother, John Jr.; sisters, Betty Sally, Rose Hochstein and Marie Jones; brothers-in-law, Joseph Sally, Raymond Jones and William Hochstein. Survived by daughter, Cynthia, married to Timothy Paugh, Tire Hill; Granddaughter, Marissa Paugh; and sister-in-law, Ada Gomilar, Johnstown. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Graduate of Johnstown High School and a retired car shop employee of the former Johnstown Plant, Bethlehem Steel Corp., with 37 years of service. Army veteran of World War II, having served with the 502nd Military Police Battalion in the CBI Theater of Operation for 29 months. Member of St. Andrew Catholic Church, Benscreek and the church choir. Also member of Local 2635, USW; Hollsopple Post 8861, VFW; Windber American Legion Post 137; and SNPJ Lodge 749, Johnstown. Life member of GBU Lodge 146, Johnstown. Loved gardening and fishing and always said, "I have an extra hook to catch more fish." Both Joe and his wife had been active in the Democratic party, serving as committee persons in Conemaugh Township. Joe also worked at the polls, serving as constable. Viewing from 1 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Davidsville, where vigil for the deceased will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday.
