Gonder, 61, Oakland druggist, for 30 years, died at his home Monday evening, April 16, after an illness of about a year. He was the son of the late Andrew B. and Mary M. Gonder. He was married in 1910 to Miss Annie West. Surviving are his wife, three children, Miss Martha Gonder of Baltimore, Major Thomas A. Gonder, Jr., Army Medical Corps, with the 7th Army in Germany, Lt. Richard J. Gonder, with the Naval Air Corps in the Pacific area; also the following brothers and sisters: Senator B. I. Gonder, W. Andrew Gonder, Miss Charlotte Jean Gonder, all of Oakland; Frances E. Gonder, of Valleyford, Wash., and Mrs. Lawrence K. Dixon, Washington, D.C. Mr. Gonder was a member of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church and of Oakland Lodge of Masons, and Garrett Lodge Knights of Phythias. He served as mayor of Oakland a number of years ago. He was a graduate of the University of Maryland. Funeral services were held last Thursday in the Episcopal Church, Rev. Austin F. Schildwachter, rector, officiating. Interment in Oakland Cemetery, the Masonic Lodge having charge of funeral rites at the grave. Meyersdale Republican, April 26, 1945
