    Joseph Gontis Sr., 85, Boswell RD 2, died Aug. 31, 1996, at West Penn
  Hospital, Pittsburgh.  Born Oct. 15, 1919, in Somerset County, son of John
  and Mary Gontis.  Preceded in death by parents; infant son Eugene; son,
  Joseph Jr., in 1986; sisters Sophia Stets and Genevieve Kavar, and
  brothers: John and Charles.  Survived by his wife, the former Anne V. Stetz;
  children: Maryanne, wife of William Humphrey, Alexandria, Va.; Rose, wife of
  Robert Cramer, York, and Bonnie, wife of Donald Wonders, Central City; six
  grandchildren, two great-grandchildren.  Brother of Victor, Boswell RD 2.
  Member of All Saints Catholic Parish. Retired self-employed contractor.
  Observed 58th wedding anniversary Aug. 25, 1996.  Friends were received
  Sunday and Monday at Hoffman Funeral Home, Allegheny Street, Boswell.  Mass
  of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. John's Catholic Church,
  Acosta, the Rev. Father Conrad Salach, O.F.M. Conv. Celebrant.  Interment,
  St. Joseph Cemetery, Ralphton.
