Born Feb. 8, 1939 in Pittsburgh, son of James Ollie Gooden of Fairhope and the late Elizabeth (Robb) Gooden. Also preceded in death by brothers: Thomas and Kenneth. Survived by these children: James R. Jr. of Fairhope, Linda Scott of Jacksonville, Fla., Howard D. of Acosta, Pamela Patton and Sara Borelle, both of Somerset, and Daniel A. of Kings Island, Ga. Thirteen grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. Also a brother of Barry of Bedford Valley, and a sister Elizabeth Faye James of Fairhope. Served in the U.S. Marine Corp. He was a self-employed welder and master mechanic. Member of Mountain Field and Stream Club, New Baltimore Sportsmen Association, American Kennel Club, and Pa. Coon Hunters Association. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin, where a service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday. Brother James Hodges officiating. Interment Miller Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society, 168 W. Union St. Somerset, Pa. 15501, or "In Touch" Hospice, 1590 N. Center Ave., Somerset, Pa. 15501.
