Born Aug. 7, 1936, the oldest son of James Ollie Gooden of Fairhope, and the late Elizabeth Kathryn (Robb) Gooden. Husband of 38 years to Erika Marion (Beyermann) Gooden. Father of six children; Jenny Marie, married to James P. Shank; Judy Elizabeth, married to Randy P. Sehn; Kenneth Irvin; John Andre; Brenda Erika Marion, married to Shawn S. Weaver; and Heiderose Melissa, engaged to Frederick P. Walter Ill. 15 grandchildren. Ken was the brother of James Ray, Elizabeth Faye James, Barry Dean, married to Mary Margaret Bryant, and Tommy Orban. Ken was an active member of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, Fairhope. His responsibilities included: Adult Sunday School teacher, president of the cemetery association, former Sunday School superintendent, Church Council president, Catechism instructor and the 1970s youth leader for the Luther League. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was a master electrician and tire specialist and also a carpenter. Ken enjoyed numerous outdoor activities, including hunting, fishing, birdwatching and bee-keeping. His varied interests were reloading, taxidermy, horse training, Shotokan Karate, wine-making, calligraphy, fly tying and gardening. Most of all Ken's greatest passion was drawing portraits of his family. Friends and family received from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin. Funeral service will be held at the Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, Fairhope, at 2 p.m. Tuesday. No viewing at the church. Pastor Homer Duppstadt and Rev. Sherman Berkey officiating. Interment, Mt. Zion Cemetery, Fairhope.
