"Jack" 08/12/08 Daily American John H. "Jack" Gordon, 82, Okeechobee, Fla., died July 25, 2008, at his residence. Born Oct. 25, 1925, in Central City, he has been a resident of Okeechobee for the last 10 years. Preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Beatrice Gray Gordon and his wife, Mary Grembi Gordon. He is survived by his companion of 10 years, Ferne Bittner. In addition, he is survived by three sisters and one brother; Ganelle Hause, Somerset; Joanne Fisher, Meyersdale; Patricia Litka (Lee), Collegeville; and William Gordon (Deloris), Berlin. Also survived by many nieces and nephews; his special great-niece, Deborah Huerta, Corona, Calif.; and Ferne's children, grandchildren and great-grand- children. Being a crane operator, he was a member of the Operating Engineers, Local 66 for over 50 years. He was an avid golfer and had two holes-in-one. He was a 32nd degree Mason and belonged to the F&AM, Lodge 237 in Okeechobee. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite Consistory Valley of Harrisburg, the Hebron Royal Arch, Chapter 272, Meyersdale, the Jaffa Shrine of Altoona, Somerset County Shrine Club and the Okeechobee Shrine Club. He was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Chapter 128, Okeechobee. A Masonic service and memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at the Trinity United Church of Christ, Berlin. The Rev. Ralph Landis and the Rev. Charles Dunn officiating.
