They were both former Meyersdale and Garrett residents. Mrs. Clara Goss, aged 70, died September 10 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Alberta Clark, in Ellwood City. Her brother, Richard Thompson Strattan, died two hours earlier at his home in Hardysville. Both had been ill for some time. Both Mrs. Goss and Mr. Strattan were the children of the late Albert and Mary Crow Strattan. The Strattan family was well known in and around Meyersdale in the early 1900's. Mrs. Goss was born October 7, 1877, and spent her earlier years in Meyersdale. She was married in 1900 to the late A. J. Goss, who operated a market in Garrett and, at one time, owned a livery stable there. About 1912, she moved to Ellwood City, where she and Mr. Goss reared their family. Surviving are her daughter, Mrs. Alberta Clark; a son, Hobert Goss; a sister, Mrs. Carrie Kimmel of Poland, O., and six grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the I. J. Porter Funeral Home with interment in the Locust Grove cemetery. Meyersdale Republican, September 23, 1948
