Born April 19, 1912, in Heilwood, Indiana County, the week the Titanic sank, daughter of the late Dr. John C. and Myra (Park) Gourley Sr. Preceded in death by sister, Martha (Gourley) Baylor, Waynesboro; and brother, Dr. John C. Gourley Jr., Windber; also two nephews and several great nieces and nephews. Survived by brother, Dr. George P. Gourley, Somerset; four nieces, four nephews and many great and great, great nieces and nephews. Graduate of Windber High School Class of 1930 and 1935 graduate of State Teacher's College, Indiana, Pa. Mary Jane taught first and second grade from 1935 to 1974 at the West End Elementary School in Windber. Member of Pa. Association of School Retirees, Somerset County Retired Teacher's Association and Quemahoning Chapter -Daughters of the American Revolution. Member of First Presbyterian Church of Windber where Mary Jane was very active in the life of the church. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the William Kisiel Funeral Home, Windber. Friends also received from 11 a.m. until noon at the funeral home on Friday. Graveside committal service will be held 2:30 p.m. Friday at Richland Cemetery. The Rev. Cynthia Cadenhead presiding. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 1101 Somerset Ave., Windber, PA 15963 in Mary Jane's memory.
