(Fred) Grasser, 89, of 304 Center St., Boswell, died March 18, 1979, at home. Born March 18, 1890, in Bedford County, a son of John and Ellen (Beener) Grasser. Preceded in death by parents; wife, the former Susan M. Shaffer, who died Jan. 16, 1968; sons, Harold and Frederick; brother and sisters, William A., Mrs. Eva Saylor, Mrs. Mary Hammer, Miss Anna Grasser; infant sister and brother. Survived by daughter, Kathryn, widow of Casmer J. Sheftic of Boswell; grandchildren: Fred Sheftic of Boswell; Daniel Sheftic of Stoystown RD 1; and Alberta, wife of Michael Evano of Latrobe; seven great-grandchildren; brother of: Mrs. Margaret Thomas of Boswell; Mrs. Elizabeth Hopps of Brooklyn, N.Y.; Albert of New Baltimore; Joseph of Johnstown; James D. of Hollsopple RD 2; Jacob of Lancaster; and Edward of Johnstown. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Boswell. Celebrated 89th birthday, Sunday, March 18, 1979. Mr. Grasser was a retired building contractor. Friends received from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Joseph H. Hoffman Funeral Home, 227 Allegheny St., Boswell, were [sic] Wake Service will be held at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Boswell, with the Rev. Samuel Tomaselli officiating. Interment, St. Stanislas [sic] Cemetery, Boswell.
