Franklin Gray Jr., 75, of Milroy, Pa., died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2000, at Beverly Healthcare William Penn Nursing Home, Lewistown. Born July 3, 1924, in Wilmington, Del., he was a son of the late G. Franklin and Mabel (Zimmerman) Gray Sr. Also preceded in death by first wife, Bessie May (Lohr) Gray in 1993. Survived by wife, Ada (Nale) Boyer Gray; children, Lavan M. Gray, Berryville, Va., Cornelius T. Gray, Lewistown, Rev. Nellie Gray Cloninger, Greenwood, S.C. and Waldo R. Gray, Yeagertown; step-children, Rodney Boyer, Mt. Pleasant Mills, Larry Boyer, Reading, and Mrs. Terry (Sharon) Roberts, Milroy; nine grandchildren, six step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and three step-great-grandchildren. Also brothers and sisters, Thomas E. Gray, Texarkanna, Tex., Mrs. Rex (Marjorie) Carleton, West Columbia, Tex., Mrs. Thomas (Joyce) Price, Leonard, Tex., and Robert Gray, Mercers Island, Wash. Graduated from Stephen F. Austin University, Nacogdoches, Tex., Class of 1956. Masters in Theology, Southern Methodist University, Dallas, Tex., 1960. Minister for Central Pennsylvania Conference for 45 years, retired in 1992 and served charges in East Texas Conference for 45 years retiring in 1992. Served as Interim pastor of Houstontown Charge and Three Springs Charge, 1992-96. WWII veteran of U.S. Army. Member of First United Methodist Church, Lewistown. Former member of Centre Hall Grange. Member and former officer of Pennsylvania Council of Alcohol Prevention. Viewing, Monday 7-9 p.m. at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Home, First Ave., Burnham, Pa. where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, with Rev. Larry L. Lutz officiating. Viewing again from 3-3:30 p.m. Tuesday, at Zion Hoffman Lutheran Church, Friedens. Graveside services at 3:45 p.m. Tuesday, at Hoffman Memorial Gardens, Friedens, Rev. Kathleen Keuhl officiating.
