Born July 5, 1913, in Anderson, Ala., son of William G. and Frankie (Williamson) Green. Preceded in death by parents; son, Harvey Jr.; brothers: Elijah, Lemul, Henry, William, and twin brother, Hiram; sisters: Etta, Shedrick, Mary Lou, and Deola Green. Survived by wife of 53 years, the former Theresa Davis; daughter, Mrs. Charles (Janet) Harris, and son, Larry, both of Piscataway, N.J.; grandchildren: Charles Jr. and Robin Harris, and Jada Taylor; great-grandchildren: Charles Harris III and Nadia Taylor, and sisters-in-law: Blanche and Annie Green, and a number of great nieces and nephews. Retired coal miner. Former Diamond Belt, and Golden Glove Lightweight Boxing Champion. Member of Church of God in Christ, Johnstown, where he served as a deacon. Member of UMWA; Lions Club and senior citizens, both of Hooversville, and the Has Been Boxing Club of Cumberland, Md. Family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Deaner Funeral Home, Hooversville, where service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Elder Arthur B. Sweeney, assisted by Rev. Charles Crouse. Interment, P.O.S. of A. Cemetery, Hooversville. Lions memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Sunday. Somerset Daily American, September 17, 1993. [G0945]
